How to help the Islanders win this year’s Calder Trophy

The New York Islanders are one of the NHL’s most under-achieving teams, but they have a lot of young talent that will help them become one of its hottest teams in the coming years.

The Islanders have already clinched the Calder Trophy as the NHL champions this season, and with the playoffs still a year away, GM Garth Snow said the club is focused on the long-term.

“We’ve got a lot more young guys on the roster,” Snow said during a recent appearance on NHL Network.

“We have some of the best young defensemen in the league in (Alex) Semin, (Alexei) Palushuk, (Johan) Karlsson, (Nathan) Boychuk, and (Jonathan) Boyer.”

And we have a ton of skill in our organization.

We have some very good forwards.

We’ve got some very talented goaltenders.

We’re going to have some quality defensemen, too.

And that’s a very good thing.

“I think the best compliment I can give you is, this team is going to be very good for a long time to come.”

The Islanders are in good shape for another decade, with a number of key players who are on the same contracts as last season.

But they’ve had to find ways to keep the roster healthy in the face of the salary cap.

While the team has been able to keep its top players on the team for a good portion of the season, Snow said it’s important for the Islanders to keep adding players to help get the team into the playoffs.

“It’s just a matter of trying to do the best we can in terms of what we’re doing in the off-season,” Snow added.

“When you have players coming back and they’re playing at a high level, it helps us in the long run.”
