Paul Krugman: “If You Have a Pet, It’s Not Worth It”

Paul Krugman, who writes for The American Journal of Political Science and was recently named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People, said in an interview that pet ownership is a mistake because it leaves the pet’s owner “free to go out and do what they want to do with their pet, to do what their kids do, to live what they wanna live, and to do whatever they want.”

Krugman added that while he does believe that owning pets is beneficial, it is important to be careful because they can lead to a lot of problems in the long run.
